Prof. Dr.sc Kiril Sotirovski graduated at the Faculty of Forestry in Skopje in 1989. He obtained his MSc degree in Biotechnical sciences in 1995 at the Faculty of Forestry in Skopje, defending his thesis: “Bioecological features of the fungus Pleurotus ostreatus, destructor of brodleaved tree species”. In 2000 he was earned his PhD degree in Forestry sciences at the Faculty of Forestry in Skopje, for his thesis: “Hypovirulence, vegetative compatible groups and mating types of Cryphonectria parasitica in Macedonia”.

He was employed as teaching assistant of “Forest pathology” at the Faculty of Forestry in Skopje in 1990. After obtaining his MSc degree in 1995 he was promoted to assistant, and after his PhD graduation in 2000 he became assistant professor. In 2002 he earned the title of associate professor and in 2005 he became full professor. In the years 2001 – 2004 he held the function of Vice Dean at the Faculty of Forestry in Skopje. Since the end of 2016 he is Dean of the Hans Em Faculty of Forest Sciences, Landscape Architecture and environmental Engineering.

Today, as full professor, he lectures the following subjects: “Forest pathology”; “Diseases of ornamental plants” and “Identification and production of mushrooms” (undergraduate studies) and “Basic methods and principles in science”; “Basic phytopathological research methods”; “Microbiology in forestry”; “Phytopathology in horticulture” (on the postgraduate level of studies).
