The Department for Protection of forests and wood, has an entomological and a phytopatological laboratory, where many international and domestic project have been executed, scientific and/or applicative. These labs have been used for research projects related to monitoring of forests, plantations or nurseries for plant diseases and pests. Also, these laboratories are used by students for preparation of practical exams for the subjects Forest entomology and Forest pathology, or for research done related to diploma works, masters or doctoral theses.

Under the frame of the phytopathology lab, during the years, a separate lab has been gradually established, for research in the area of molecular biology. It is situated in a separate room, next to the phytopathology lab, and at the moment possesses the basic equipment needed for isolation of DNA from appropriately prepared samples, its confirmation and archiving of data, as well as processing DNA for further research. During 2016, for the first time independently has DNA been isolated from samples of microorganisms, while already in 2017 after further processing and purification of DNA samples have been sequenced in other collaborating labs.  This lab for the moment serves only for research purposes and for training of postgraduate students, while it is available for molecular research of all academic personnel of the Faculty of Forestry, should there be interest and there are means and need.

For the purposes of separate scientific disciplines, separate samples or collections, from different exhibits, are patiently collected and presented by the appropriate academic staff. Certain collections are relatively diverse and are highly valued. As an example, for the practical exercises for the course “Game management”, the zoological collection is formed with more than 150 taxiderms, out of which 15 are mammals and the others are birds. Most of the taxiderms are game animals according the Law on Game management and are permanently protected. In the frames of the zoological collection, there is a collection of different types of hunting firearms and ammo, as well as collection of trophies from different kinds of game. According the number of taxiderms, this zoological collection, together with the collection of the Museum of Natural history in Skopje is one of its kind in the country.

The department for Protection of the forests and wood has four collections: entomological, phytopathological, collection of small rodents and field samples from various damage to plants from biotic and abiotic factors, as well as a collection of equipment related to the course “Ecoclimatology”.

The entomological collection, used mainly for educational purposes, has over 10,000 exhibits of insects in 100 entomological boxes stored in separate showcases. Beside this collection, there is also an insect collection, composed of 15,000 insects from separate research projects, encased in 250 entomological boxes. For the preparation of the practical part of the exams of “Forest entomology”, there are available over 300 exhibits from damaged wood from xylophagous insects and over 600 damage samples from defoliators. Also, there are five boxes showing the morphological composition of the insects living in the forests of Republic of Macedonia. In the hall, in front of the entomological laboratory, there is a contemporary entomological collection with the most important insects living in the forests, both beneficial and pest insects.

The phytopatological collection has fungi with approximately 45 large specimen (species) with several duplicates, encased in several boxes, ready for use for the students. Beside this, this collection encompasses about 15 species which are about related to diseases of leaves and needles, and are stored in a separate collection of glass slides.

Special attention is devoted to the photo-collection which has over 1500 photographs and several photo-albums.

Besides the aforementioned collections, the Faculty has several other collections: herbal, phytocenological, soil collection, seed, nursery and afforestation collection, which are constantly complemented.

The most recently established laboratory at the Faculty of Forestry is the laboratory for Contemporary geomatical techniques (GIS, Remote sensing). The main purpose of the laboratory is spatial modeling of natural processes with GIS and RS tools, which is considered the cutting edge technology in the spatial domain. This laboratory has:

• Collection of over 30 surveying instruments and many surveying devices and aids used in teaching multiple disciplines, from the oldest models up to the most sophisticated instrument total station.
• A collection of topographic maps for the entire state and parts of neighbor countries in different scale from 1.25000 to 1: 200000.
• Collection of various thematic maps and tabular data for the purposes of studies on land and water.
• Equipment for research of soil erosion.
• Collection of over 5000 pictures of different types of erosion from various fields in the Republic of North Macedonia and abroad.
• Collection of technical documentation relating to the research area of the department.
• Independent computer network of the department with a separate
• Digital data base for the purposes of research related to the scientific area of land and water.
