International exchange – ERAZMUS+

Erasmus+ is an EU program to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe. The program’s budget is 14.7 billion euros to provide opportunities for over 4 million Europeans to study, train and gain experience abroad.

This program not only provides opportunities for students, but, by combining seven previous programs – Jean Monnet, Lifelong Learning, Erasmus Mundus, Tempus, Alpha and Edulink has opportunities for a wide range of individuals and organizations. Erasmus+ has opportunities for people of all ages, helping them to develop and share knowledge and experience in institutions and organizations in different countries. Erasmus+ also has opportunities for a wide range of organizations, including universities, education and training providers, think tanks, research organizations and private businesses. The existing international cooperation of the European Commission programs in higher education and training has been transferred to the new Erasmus+ program.

Erasmus+ aims to contribute to the Europe 2020 strategy for growth, jobs, social equality and inclusion, as well as the goals of ET2020, the EU’s strategic framework for education and training. Erasmus+ also aims to promote the sustainable development of its partners in the field of higher education and to contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the EU Youth Strategy.

The program is open to: EU Member States, EU Accession States, candidate and potential candidate countries benefiting from the Pre-Accession Strategy, European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries that are signatories to the European Economic Area (EEA) Agreement, the Swiss Confederation, provided that it has concluded a special international agreement and countries covered by the European Neighborhood Policy, with which a bilateral agreement has been concluded. All other countries in the world are partner countries and can participate in certain activities or according to specific conditions.
